Crypto Quantitative Developer - Execution InfrastructureLocation: New York, NY (In-Person, 5 Days/Week) Company: Blockhouse Job Type: Full-Time Internship (Start Immediately, Through December)
About BlockhouseBlockhouse is building intelligent execution algorithms for institutional traders. Our platform combines market microstructure modeling, machine learning, and real-time signal generation to minimize slippage and improve execution quality across equities, crypto, and fixed income markets.
We’re now expanding our crypto execution capabilities and are looking for a Crypto Quantitative Developer Intern to help us deepen our connectivity, improve latency, and integrate execution logic directly with DeFi and CEX platforms.
Role OverviewThis is a hands-on infrastructure and trading systems role focused on crypto-native development. You’ll be building the core components that power our crypto execution stack, including exchange connectivity, blockchain-based data ingestion, and real-time trading simulations.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working with Rust, has previous blockchain development experience, and has previously connected to centralized and/or decentralized exchanges, built crypto data feeds, or developed on-chain tooling.
What You’ll Do• Connect directly to CEXs and DEXs via REST/WebSocket/FIX APIs (e.g., Coinbase, Binance, dYdX, Hyperliquid, Uniswap, Jupiter) and build resilient execution pipelines
- Build real-time data ingestion systems for blockchain-based assets, including order book snapshots, swaps, funding rates, and mempool monitoring
- Implement performance-critical components in Rust, and integrate with our Python-based research stack
- Develop backtesting frameworks for crypto-specific market conditions including perpetual funding dynamics and on-chain slippage
- Work with event-driven systems like Kafka to simulate and evaluate real-time trading scenarios
- Collaborate with quant researchers to deploy production trading strategies into live crypto markets
- Contribute to smart order routing logic, venue selection algorithms, and execution benchmarking tools
- Use AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda) to deploy, monitor, and scale production services
What We’re Looking For• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Applied Math, Financial Engineering, or a related technical field
- Must have previous blockchain development experience - either on personal, academic, or professional projects
- Strong proficiency in Rust and Python, with an ability to write clean, modular, and well-tested code
- Hands-on experience integrating with crypto exchange APIs (REST, WebSocket, FIX)
- Understanding of blockchain infrastructure, including on-chain data retrieval, mempool monitoring, and gas optimization
- Familiarity with crypto-specific market mechanics: AMMs, funding rates, LP dynamics, liquidation cascades
- Experience with Kafka or other real-time streaming architectures
- Exposure to backtesting, simulation environments, and decentralized trading systems
- Bonus: Experience with Clickhouse, Docker, Solidity/Vyper, or validator node architecture
Why Join Us?• Build real infrastructure used in live crypto trading environments
- Collaborate with a team of experienced quant researchers, ex-HFT engineers, and DeFi-native developers
- Own high-impact projects with direct execution and research value
- Work in a fast-paced, intellectually rigorous environment where engineering and research go hand in hand
- Full in-person culture in NYC with direct mentorship and tight collaboration across teams
Compensation: Mixture of cash and equity-based compensation depending on experience and hours committed.
For International StudentsBlockhouse supports CPT/OPT, is e-verified, and accommodates flexible international payment arrangements.
